가족의 형태와 유형, 가족의식, 가족관계, 가족제도 등을 전체 사회의 사회경제적 구조와 관련하여 분석하면서 한국가족의 구조적 특성이 무엇인지 밝히고, 가족연구의 다양한 방법을 연구한다.

사회계층에 관한 이론적 고찰을 통하여 사회 불평등 현상을 규명하며, 현대 자본주의 사회의 사회 불평등의 원인과 본질을 파악하고 이를 토대로 현대 사회 계층화의 다양한 양상을 연구한다.

인구현상을 논리적이고 체계적으로 접근하여 인구현상의 원인과 결과를 인구분석 및 인구연구의 관점에서 강의 및 토론하는 강좌이다. 이와 같은 과목의 개설 목적에 부합하기 위하여 인구현상의 실태, 설명 이론들, 측정방법, 분석방법, 향후 전망 및 대책 등을 주제별로 다루게 된다. 인구의 크기와 변동, 출산력, 사망력, 인구이동과 같은 인구성장의 구성요인의 원인과 결과, 인구구조, 인구변동의 원인과 결과 등을 관련 문헌을 읽고 토론하여 보다 전문적이고 체계적인 이론의 정립을 시도한다. 뿐만 아니라 본 강좌를 통하여 인구학 분야에 독자적인 연구를 수행할 수 있는 능력 배양 역시 역점을 두고 수업이 진행될 것이다.

정치권력의 구조, 배분과 행사방법 및 그러한 과정에서 일어나는 정치적 갈등에 관한 제반 현상을 탐색하며, 근현대 사회에서 정치권력의 중심인 국가와 국가의 다양한 사회경제적 개입을 통해 국가권력이 어떻게 행사되는가를 사회적, 문화적 맥락 속에서 연구한다.

이 강좌는 현대자본주의에서 대중문화가 보여주는 특징과 양태를 매스미디어와 관련지어 살펴보고, 특히 인터넷이나 위성방송과 같은 뉴미디어의 등장에 따른 대중문화의 변화 가능성에 주목한다. 동시에 오늘날 한국사회에서 나타나고 있는 대중문화의 여러 양상들을 사회학적 접근방법을 동원하여 분석함으로써 그 특징을 밝혀본다.

이 강좌는 정보통신기술의 발달에 따라 나타나는 가상공간의 형성에 주목하여 가상공간이 형성되는 역사사회적 배경과 기술적 배경을 검토하고, 가상공간이 가져오는 사회관계의 재구조화와 개인의 자아문제 및 프라이버시 문제 등을 논의한다. 나아가 가상공간의 등장이 사회학의 학문적 정체성에 미칠 수 있는 영향을 토론한다.

이 강좌는 산업사회학의 핵심 주제라 할 수 있는 노사문제를 국가-자본-노동 3자의 역학관계에 접근하여 분석한다. 특히 해방 이후 한국사회에서 전개되어 온 노사관계를 시기별로 검토하면서 국가와 자본, 노동 3자의 역학관계가 노사갈등 내지 노사관계에 어떤 영향을 미쳤는지를 토론한다.

본 강좌에서는 현대사회의 건강, 질병, 그리고 이들과 연관되어 있는 사회조직 등을 사회학적 관점으로 논의한다. 또한 관련분야의 연구대상, 연구방법 및 이론 등을 소개하며 변화추세를 검토한다. 뿐만 아니라 건강과 질병과 관련한 일반인과 의료인 사이의 상호작용과 그 성격을 규명하며 나아가 보건의료조직 및 보건전문가 조직에 관하여 다루게 된다. 한국사회의 보건정책의 문제점 및 개선책 등에 대해서도 다루게 될 것이다.

이 강좌는 사회변혁의 새로운 계기로 주목받고 있는 시민운동과 시민운동의 주도세력인 NGO(Non Governmental Organization : 비정부기구)를 분석대상으로 삼는다. 시민운동이 나타난 사회적·역사적 배경과 시민운동의 이념, 특징, 조직, 한계점 등을 논의한다. 또 시민운동과 NGO의 구체적 사례로서 한국의 시민운동과 NGO에 대해 검토하고 토론한다.

이 강좌에서는 사회문제로서 환경문제가 발생하게 된 역사적 배경, 환경문제의 현재 실상과 그 사회적 성격, 그리고 생태학적 시각을 비롯한 환경문제에 대한 다양한 사회학적 시각을 검토한다. 그리고 환경문제에 대한 사회학적 연구방법론을 학습하고 환경문제의 사회적 해결방안을 모색한다.

우리가 살아가는 현재의 글로벌 자본주의 정치경제 체제는 16세기 이래 서구에서 기원해 발전해 온 근현대 세계체제에 그 뿌리를 두고 있다. 이 강좌는 유럽 중심의 근대 세계체제가 어떤 과정을 거쳐 오늘에 이르게 되었는지를 추적 분석한다. 수강생들은 이 강좌를 통해 현 세계체제의 구조적 모습과 역동적 운용 틀에 대한 기본적 이해를 가지게 될 것이다.

Students will have a chance to analyze the historical progress of post-war social development in some of the important developing societies. They will also be required to investigate and debate on the causes of the development/underdevelopment in these developing countries and their implications and limitations.

This course deals with topics, such as descriptive statistics and inferential statistics as well as in terms of positivism which is one of the main stream of sociological methodology in the 21st century. In this context, cross tabulation analysis, t-test, correlation analysis, regression analysis, discriminant analysis, path analysis and logistic regression analysis will be discussed. The SPSS statistical package will be introduced for statistical analysis.
